fundraising

In light of doing the perfectly period pink challenge on Realm of Venus for breast cancer month I am hoping to raise another $50. Donations go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute which actually spends most of it's money on research and treatment
I am doing a blog recording my process on the naughty purse that if you donate at least $1 you will have access to. In light that we are all very aware of Breast Cancer I hope to do more then just wear pink and actually do some good- please help if you can

it's evil!!

so I was just going to skip Bella's latest challenge on Realm of Venus. While I fully support the pink theme for breast cancer awareness,  I just couldn't think of anything pink I could do. Then Bella posted an evil picture.

How could I say no to a naughty embroidery project??

looking at it closely I could see it as a scissor case with a draw string bag on the front to hold thread and the acorn on top as a pin cushion, maybe attached to a needle case.

now that the ideas are brewing and I feel inspired I need to find materials, I'm thinking gold plaited braid on the edges, pomegranates (spilling seeds) instead of the flowers and ermine- out of pearls. just to make it mine.  doing the whole thing with either a pink split stitch background or tent stitched.

I have no intention of winning, it will be small and compared to some of the plans folks are brewing it will not be in the same league as them, but it will be a fun little project for me to do.

so I'm thinking.....

Dangerous I know!

I have costuming ADD I always have a lot of projects on the burner and there are times I can't stop coming up with new ideas. Now that the IRCC is over I plan on using this blog to keep track of my ideas and doing better at documenting the work I am doing.

I have already posted a pic of the embroidered pocket I am working on.

I have plans to continue working on my courtesan handout/ research paper
I have started the research to create a full Florentine outfit
I am thinking of creating a cloth doll and creating a wardrobe for her (to test patterns)
I really would love to do more card weaving (tablet weaving)
I would love to create a SCAesque Heraldic cotehardie, I say this as most of the period examples I like are from allegories and are not the best choices to base an outfit on but oh I would so like one!
I have a few nightcap ideas floating in my mind
would love to try my hand at a brick stitch pouch

I also have several costumes I would love to make for Costume Con next year!

next

this one will take a long time. I am thinking of embroidering a heraldic linen pocket using silk threads, spilt stitch and chain stitch. ight add blackwork fills in the diamonds as well

Final IRCC 2 post

And the IRCC is finished, results have been posted! I took second place with 855 points, not to shabby! And won best handwork- Which I am really proud of! I learned a lot this go round I tried many new things, including wire work, metal thread embroidery and weaving.

In all likely hood I will not be entering again. It has been fun, I love the deadline. If I ever think of doing this again I will not be doing it to win, and in that case I might as well only do the home game and use the deadline.
